Hobby Locust, my wife calls me. I get into one hobby, consume, lose interest, and move on to another. Actually, I tend NOT to lose interest, and that can be a problem, too.
When you're done here, check out my website at:
www.rcgrabbag.com
It's loaded with all sorts of hobby-related crap that's useful for twittling away all sorts of valuable time.

S2: E1: Yet ANOTHER crazy bridge project! Plus review of Sunset Model's new brass HO AC-9!
Переглядів 132 тис.2 роки тому
Welcome to another season of the North Edge and Everee private model railroad build. In this episode, I’m installing a hand-made #10 double crossover and two hand-made #10 single turnouts on an existing stone arch bridge. The crazy part is having all of the crossover turnouts operable by remote control and DCC addressable like all the other turnouts on the layout. I also review the new Sunset M...

S1: E7: Giant HO Scale Layout Update: Into the Workshop!
Переглядів 161 тис.3 роки тому
In this video I head down into the workshop to build a turnout by hand. I've gotten the best performance with hand built turnouts over commercially available ones. They do take time, but the results are well worth it in terms of smooth operation and overall reliability (and there is a monetary cost savings as well). During the turnout build, we'll take some breaks and look at a new waterfront s...
S1: E6: Starting Scenery
Переглядів 281 тис.3 роки тому
In this video I begin working on scenery starting with creating a hardshell base and making some rock castings. Scenery can be done in many ways and I am in no way inferring that what you see here is the only way or the best way (for you). Choose what works for you in any given situations. Sufficed to say, you will see many more scenic techniques performed as the layout construction progresses....

Would like to see some action….,
Thanks for operating your trains at realistic speeds. Especially the very slow order over the high trestle!
that brings back good memories .the old cox stuff was adjacent to lighting off a firework . the fun never ends
This is the best step-by-step illustration on how to make a hand laid turnout for beginners, thank you
Thank you!
So incredibly good. I’m watching with my little set being built in foreground. A bit of a contrast 😂 But main reason I’m commenting it to say Wow thanks for taking the time to film as you go and then more time to edit and run commentary So kind of you 😊
When are you doing an episode 3 for a layout update?
@@ronbosworth2178 I’m currently wrapping up another major home project, but will back to producing layout content on a more frequent basis in a few weeks. Thanks for checking in and thanks to you and others for patience!
Can you show us how you make your bents?
I look forward to a Southern Pacific cab forward being restored if it ever happened
Too much money .. too much free time .. probably a rich liberal who supports biden and policies that hurt the rest of the country's residents.
Kids today are deprived of real fun
Nice! But wasn't it running a bit too rich?
Great class! Very knowledge
Your skills are fabulous! What an awesome job you're doing!
gorrila glue uses water as the activator just spray a little and itll cure in minutes.
I noted that in the pinned comment.
Amazing some great ideas thanks
Can’t wait for the next one
I finally got one not too long ago!
I would love to see a picture of your lay out
Man this truly is amazing great work pal 👌 was you a member of Tamiya club ? Your UA-cam name rings a bell
A guy creates an incredible build like this one has to be committed to living there for the remainder of his life. Fantastic scenery and integration! I can't begin to imagine the skill, the time, the construction, the detailing and weathering committed to making this incredible build! Bravo, you are a Master!
Welp, if I hadn’t chosen to be a loser, this would be my dream life.
That gets old pretty fast! I mean watching an annoying sounding toy spin repeated circles in the snow? Yup. That’s my idea of fun!!!
Where is this outstanding layout?
Your skill for building bridges is just amazing 👏 😮
It’s unfortunate that the two showstopper bridges aren’t staggered, so one doesn’t detract from the other, but everything still looks great nonetheless
I wouldn't call it unfortunate when it in fact it was deliberate. I purposely put the two together because I wanted a juxtaposition of timber vs steel.
A lot of hard work, and deep pockets, is a recipe for a killer layout lol! 👏
We need another release of this great train!
I wish I had the space for these
Just the track detail is crazy.
WOW! what a room for a layout!
The scenery is amazing, but where are the trains? I'd rather see more trains running through such an elaborate set up
It takes talent to shoot something in SHD. You're zooming past without ever a clear focus on anything. A person must watch the video he/she presents as he/she is their best critic. Cheers from eastern TN
It takes just a minimal amount of research before critiquing anything, but you rush to the keyboard before doing any due diligence. The video was not an attempt to create a masterpiece. I was shooting handheld, moving in and around other tourists doing what I could to keep them out of the shot. It doesn't allow time for artistic cinematography. Also, have you even looked at any other videos on my channel? Do you see a difference in quality? Of course not. You're too lazy. Cheers from someone who actually produces content.
3D history, very impresiv
That can't be your home? Is it a club house?
oh flyscreen, that is one good trick!
Looks really great. Great job.
when we see you again?
Great layout 🤩I like the profile of the mountains with many tunnels. The model of the mine is fantastic. Very nice work 👍
HOLY TRESEL
Is that damage at 6:45 from the launch tower, or collision with other pieces at deployment, or rash from maybe that shock cord that got wrapped around the fin? This might be the coolest launch I've ever seen!
Dont use those yellow things on the wires, thats waiting for isseus and problems. 🤨 Just solder everything.
There’s nothing wrong with them if used correctly.
You must work for Digitrax AND you must think that I'm made of money. Nice try.
Actually I don’t think of you at all
You can never have too many clamps.
🤠🖐🚂🫵
Cor blimey what a layout can I come and stay !!
Im really curious what the ventalation is like in your room? Are you planning to use epoxy etc for water effects?
Yes I will be using resins for water effects. I have an upstairs room with plenty of windows. Although what do people do in their basements?
What size is your layout?
About 27x50ft
@@rcgrabbagthank you for your reply bud
Before bidenomics....
Been keeping up on this project for a while now. Just awesome to watch!
Awesome! Thank you!
Nice, but not a single train running????
